For Year 1 Entry

The 4-year undergraduate degree option includes English-language upgrading and is designed primarily for international students who have not yet achieved fluency in English.

For Year 3 Entry

(degree completion) Degree completion comprises the final 2 years of a 4-year undergraduate degree. In some programs, the final 2 years can be completed in an accelerated format in as little as 12 months.

How RRU Delivers

Royal Roads University offers three 4-year undergraduate programs:

  • BA in Global Tourism Management
  • BA in International Hotel Management
  • BBA in Innovation & Sustainability

Years 1 and 2 of these programs have been designed primarily for international students.

No matter which of these programs you choose, you will study a common curriculum during your first year to build competencies in the areas of global citizenship, critical thinking, independent and inquiry-based learning, intercultural relationships, communication and social justice in order to prepare you for your future years of academic and professional success. Our cohort learning model will bring you together with students from around the world where you will study together for the duration of your program. Our average class size is 35, allowing you to know your fellow students and your instructors to know you by name.

Pathways to Royal Roads

The majority of undergraduate programs at Royal Roads are degree- completion programs comprising the final two years of a four-year degree. Undergraduate students typically complete the first two years of their degree or diploma at another recognized college or university then transfer to Royal Roads to complete the final two years. In some programs, our accelerated model allows students to complete years 3 and 4 in as little as 12 months.

We have developed agreements with other educational institutions in Canada and around the world that allow a smooth transition for qualified students to finish their degrees at Royal Roads University.

Bachelor of Arts in Global Tourism Management

Tourism can make a positive difference in the world. If you want to learn more about the intersection of tourism, management and influencing positive social change, then this undergraduate degree- completion program in global tourism management is for you.
Be inspired by ideas and insights that examine the future of tourism to sustain communities and the environment.

Standard Admission

  • For entry to first year (primarily for international students who have not yet achieved English language fluency):
    • Graduation from a recognized secondary school or comparable senior high school, with a minimum ‘B’ (73%) average in four academic grade 12 courses, including Math 12 or Economics 12.
  • For entry to third year:
    • Completion of a diploma (or 60 credits), including a minimum of 24 second-year credits, in areas such as hospitality, tourism, business administration or equivalent, with a minimum GPA of ‘B’ (3.00/4.33), from a recognized post-secondary institution.
    • At least 400 hours of tourism/hospitality-related work experience.
    • Applicants who do not qualify for Standard Admission may be assessed under Flexible Admission.

Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies

The Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies is tailored to your unique interests and schedule. Customize this program with a selection of courses from our Schools of Communication & Culture, Environment & Sustainability, Humanitarian Studies, Business, and the College of Interdisciplinary Studies. The program begins with three core, required courses: INDS 300: introduces students to writing for academic and professional fields of practice; INDS 310: introduces students to academic disciplines and professional fields of practice, leading into a thorough understanding of interdisciplinarity, multidisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity; INDS 400: introduces students to Indigenous ways of knowing within the contexts of colonialism and contemporary challenges. It explores Indigenous perspectives on identity, the environment, knowledge acquisition and renewed political relationships.

  • Complete your degree fully online or through a combination of an on-campus residency and online learning.
  • With our innovative degree design, you may select courses from other post-secondary institutions to further develop your knowledge and expertise in your academic area of focus. You have the option to declare an area of concentration.
  • You have the opportunity to complete an internship as an elective to enhance your experiential learning.
  • To conclude your highly personalized program of study, you will complete a professionally focused capstone consisting of an independent study and a senior research paper/project.

Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies

Designed for students wishing to pursue a career in criminal justice, law, human rights, social justice, policy, advocacy or conflict resolution, this degree-completion program provides you with the practical and theoretical foundations to excel in your chosen field.

  • Choose from an accelerated 12-month delivery or a 24-month blended delivery that combines online study and face-to-face instruction during on-campus residencies.
  • You will acquire effective conflict analysis, legal reasoning, critical thinking skills and an in-depth understanding of the Canadian and international legal systems.
  • You will explore a range of perspectives, including law, philosophy and social sciences including criminology, political science, sociology and human services, with an emphasis on dispute resolution.
  • You will complete either a practicum or research project to ground your learning.

Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication

By balancing the best of academic education, professional experience and practical skills, this undergraduate program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in public relations, social media management, business communication,  visual communication,  public advocacy, crisis communication,  advertising and media analysis, journalism or multimedia production, to name a few.

  • The on-campus delivery is accelerated, so that you may finish your third and fourth years of study in one year.
  • The two-year blended delivery combines online study with face-to-face instruction during two intensive, on-campus residencies.

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Environmental Practice

Advance your environmental career or move into an exciting new career in the environmental professions. The environmental practice programs at Royal Roads University can help you develop the skills, knowledge and connections you need to succeed. This online program will develop your critical thinking ability. Building on your environmental knowledge, you will gain a comprehensive foundation in environmental practices to respond to the multitude of sustainable solutions the world needs.

  • Offered as a BA and a BSc, this fully online program allows you to tailor your learning experience based on your personal and professional interests.
  • Personalize your program by choosing from a variety of core and elective courses, at RRU and other institutions, and by choosing to take 1 to 3 courses in each session. The length of the program will depend on the number of courses you take per session.
  • Developed in partnership with ECO (Environmental Careers Organization) Canada, this program addresses the academic and knowledge requirements consistent with National Occupational Standards and for environmental professionals.
