If you’re a licensed representative, you can now submit your clients’ applications for permanent residence (non-Express Entry) using the online portal(opens in a new tab) .

IRCC has created the Permanent Residence Portal for applicants. Representatives can now submit using the same system through a separate account.

2023 New Application Process for Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Pilot

As part of efforts to modernize Canada’s immigration system and improve client service, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is transitioning to 100% online applications for most permanent immigration programs.

Since March 31, 2021, some clients have been able to apply online for permanent immigration programs through the Permanent Residence Portal. This online option gives clients more flexibility to apply from their devices and allows them to receive immediate confirmation that they have successfully submitted their application. The portal has been expanded and is currently open to most permanent residence program applicants.

As per subsection 22(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, applicants who have a dual intent to seek status as temporary workers and then eventually as permanent residents must satisfy the officer that they have the ability and willingness to leave Canada at the end of the temporary period authorized under section 183 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. The applicant must be able to demonstrate that they will have the incentive to depart Canada when their work is complete (e.g., operation of a rib stand at a festival) or the business closes.
